Pathways Board of Directors
Pathways to Independence is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who share their experience, skills and knowledge of Human Services to provide long term strategic guidance and advice.

Jack Arthur (President)
Jack joined the Board in November 2004 and currently holds the position of President. Jack worked with IBM for 26 years, is a former Reeve of Sydney Township, and was the first Mayor of Quinte West. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Trenton Memorial Foundation as Vice Chair and was formally the chair of the Trenton Hospital Board. Jack is married to his wife Linda and has two sons.

Bill Vandervoort (Vice-President)
Bill joined the Board in September 2001. In 1993 Bill retired from the Air Forces which he served in for over 39 years. Bill also enjoyed a political career while stationed in various military posts, serving as Mayor and Deputy Mayor. He married his favourite Australian, Catheryn Flannery, in 1960. They have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. After being transferred to Trenton in 1980 Bill has volunteered with Quintra, Quinte Access, Quinte Adapted Aquatics, Quinte Sailability, the City of Quinte West and the Kiwanis Club of Kente.

Donn Martinson (Treasurer)
Donn joined the Pathways Foundation Board in 2002 and has just recently joined the Pathways to Independence Board, holding the position of Treasurer on both Boards. He is a Certified General Accountant (CGA) and after 29 years of service with Ontario Hydro he retired as Comptroller of Ontario Hydro's Eastern Region. Donn is currently working on a contract basis with Welch & Company LLP. In addition to Donn's extensive financial knowledge, he has also been an active volunteer within our community. Donn is a former member of the Accounting Program Advisory Board at Loyalist College, the former treasurer of the Quinte Figure Skating Club, and has sat on Board of Director of the Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario, Belleville chapter, for several year two of which he was Chair.

Patricia McLaughlin
Patricia recently joined the Board after several years of volunteering on the Quality Assurance and the Leadership & Partnership committees of the Board. She worked in provincial health and social services of southeastern Ontario; did project management and consulting with area non-profit agencies; and is currently managing a local research project. Patricia is an active community volunteer and advocate.

Brenda Teal
Brenda’s interest in helping people to become more independent, and to continue learning comes from many years as an educator. A recently retired teacher, Brenda brings her interest in education and ability to help people to achieve success to the Board.

Gord Leverton (Secretary)
Gord became very familiar with Pathways during his many years as a Commercial Account Manager with the Royal Bank located in Belleville. A long time friend of the agency, Gord joined the Board upon his retirement from Royal Bank and brings his many years of business experience to us.

Phil Wild
An active volunteer within the Quinte community, as well as a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Life Underwriter with Whitley Financial Services, Phil brings a wealth of experience to the Board. As a parent of children with disabilities, Phil is able to draw upon both personal and business experiences to contribute to the Board’s governance role.

Robert Vogel
Robert represents our Ottawa communities on the Board. An active volunteer who has helped to organize the Ottawa Pathways Foundation Golf Tournament for the last 6 years, Robert is semi retired, providing business consulting services to developing companies in the Ottawa area and brings his years of business experience to the Board.
