Pathways Foundation

A registered charitable organization, the Pathways Foundation mandate is to enhance the quality of life of individuals supported by Pathways to Independence and those supported by partner organizations.

Established in 2001 as a registered, charitable organization, the Pathways Foundation Board of Directors identified three high need requirements to focus our fundraising efforts so that we can continue to fulfill our mandate.

  1. Our Cabin Road home located just outside of the City of Ottawa is not adaptable to the changing needs of the people who live there. Our longer term goal will be to find a more suitable home closer to the city and one that can accommodate the changing physical needs of the people we support.

  2. The Pathways Foundation Creative Community Access Funds provides the “little bit extra” financial support to allow persons with intellectual disabilities and or acquired brain injuries to more fully participate in their communities. To date, this fund has helped adults with developmental challenges or acquired brain injury to learn to ski, to enjoy a horseback ride, and to attend hockey games and community concerts. It has also supported the costs of a Breakfast Club for over 30 people with challenges. The costs of these activities can be beyond the reach for many of the people we support, and this fund helps to ensure that every person can fully participate in and enjoy community based activities and events.

  3. Many of the people we support have limited physical mobility and we require a new fully accessible vehicle to safely and effectively support their transportation requirements. We must replace our old wheelchair bus with a van that is more flexible and able to accommodate a variety of different physical needs.
