Ten years ago, Pathways to Independence opened
its first supported home in the Ottawa area. The
Cabin Road home was established to support six
adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI). The home
also served as Pathways’ Ottawa office for several
years while the agency worked to establish networks
and partnerships with many Ottawa based services

At its most essential level, inclusiveness ensures that every person is included, participates in his or her community in meaningful ways, and feels a sense of belonging to family, friends, neighbourhoods, workplaces, places of worship, and the broader community. Fall 2009Pathways recently completed a client satisfaction survey in preparation for the upcoming accreditation process with the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The results were very positive and we are very proud of them. Most gratifying was the incredible 99.2% overall satisfaction rating with the services received. As we grew older we were presented with many situations that required the “talk” from our parents about having choices, and choices having consequences, and if we were old enough to exercise our “rights” then we also needed to understand our responsibilities. |
